While the news is good for every pre-owned car dealership, it could be especially encouraging for those that sell American cars like used GMCs in New Jersey and elsewhere, since the country’s auto industry has needed a boost for quite some time. Perhaps there will be more Fords, Cadillacs, Lincolns and Buicks rolling around the U.S. soon.

Used 9-3s in New York could become popular as Saab recovers its reputation

Saab hasn’t been attracting much positive attention lately thanks to GM’s financial difficulties, but now that a super-car manufacturer is involved with the Swedish company, used 9-3s in New York could start selling quickly.

Although the deal with Koenigsegg hasn’t officially gone through yet, Saab spokesman Eric Geers recently told Dow Jones that it was only a matter of time. But past Saab models have been pretty quick on their feet too. Take the 2002 Saab 9-3 Viggen, for example. The Viggen was Saab’s top-of-the-line version of the 9-3 and it came with a 2.3-liter turbo that produced 230 horsepower, according to Forbes. With that sort of muscle, this 9-3 got to 60 MPH in about 6.5 seconds, which is respectable for a four-cylinder vehicle.

Saab is reportedly confident that it will soon be acquired by Koenigsegg, and it might be interesting to see what sort of an effect the super-car manufacturer will have on upcoming Saab models. If the new 9-3 is anywhere near as stylish as used Viggens in New York are, Saab could become one hot brand.

Car and Driver recently released spy pictures it has from Munich, Germany of the 2012 BMW 3-series. The car pictured will be the sixth generation of the 3, which first debuted in 1975, and the publication said the manufacturer is working hard to outdo itself.

“There’s a lot to come: the next-generation 3 will again be offered in number of body styles, including a touring wagon or sport wagon, coupe and cabriolet, which – contrary to what we’ve hoped for – will keep the heavy and complex retractable hard top,” writes Car and Driver’s Jens Meiners.

The current 3-series was first released in 2006, according to Edmunds.com, and came equipped with either a 215 horsepower six-cylinder engine or a 255 horsepower six-cylinder engine at first. The difference in muscle was due to different levels of displacement, the latter being half a liter larger than the former.

The Tuner School was founded by HPE president John Hennessey. The team built up a matte black Hyundai Genesis that now has 500 horsepower and can reach 60 MPH in an estimated 3.9 seconds.

“To work with a leading tuner such as John Hennessey and his Tuner School is a testament to the potential of our rear-wheel-drive Genesis Coupe,” said Michael Deitz of Hyundai. “With its 500 horsepower and 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds we expect this vehicle to be one of the stars of SEMA.”

Some people see Hyundais as affordable compacts, but this reputation isn’t totally accurate anymore. It seems some of the company’s models can be heavily modified, and with news of the Tuner School’s Genesis, used Hyundais in New Jersey just might become cooler.

Good news for GM could inspire buyers to look for used Chevrolets in New York

GM recently reported that its four core brands performed well in October – a detail that might get people to think about buying used Chevrolets in New York.

GM’s core brands include Buick, Cadillac, GMC and Chevrolet. In October, at total of 177,603 vehicles were sold, which is 4 percent more than in October of 2008, and constitutes GM’s first year-over-year gain since January of 2008. Compared to September, GM’s sales number was 13 percent higher last month.

“We’re very pleased with consumer acceptance to our newest cars, crossovers and trucks,” said Susan Docherty, GM’s vice president of sales. “While we have more work to do, we are making progress and will continue our focus on delivering vehicles and a sales and service experience that brings consumers to Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac – and keeps them coming back.”

Used Chevrolets in New York might not be the only cars that become more popular thanks to GM’s performance last month. Pre-owned models of its other brands might start to sell fast too since consumer confidence could increase because of the company’s sales performance.
