Car enthusiasts faithful to Volvo

Despite a rumor that the Ford Motor Company may cut Volvo as a subsidiary from the organization, fans of the automobile brand say they will stick with their favorite car no matter what, Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

George Downs, 70, recently attended a gathering of Volvo fans in San Antonio, Texas and said he drove his 2001 V70 wagon from Bartlesville, Oklahoma for the meetup, according to the article.

“I’ve owned 13 Volvos, and I can tell you that they’re sturdy, rugged, reliable and safe,” Downs told the news provider who was reportedly standing by his car wearing a plastic Viking hat.

Downs added that if Volvo gets dropped by Ford, he would like to see the car company return to the trucks it used to make in 1999.

For many people, the draw of owning a Volvo car is the vehicle’s safety features. The company has received numerous awards in the past for its dedication to ensure driver and passenger safety in the event of a crash.

Recently Consumer Reports listed the 2002 Volvo S60 as one of the best used cars to purchase on the market.
