Used Subaru Outbacks in New Jersey offer fuel-efficient off-road ability

Subaru recently announced that a continuously variable transmission has increased the fuel efficiency of its Outback models, but those considering used Subaru Outbacks in New Jersey can get similar statistics in older models.

The compact wagon has always come with all-wheel drive as a standard feature, and the combination of “great on- and off-road capability, comfortable space, incredible cargo carrying ability and fuel economy” could interest consumers, according to Tim Mahoney, Subaru senior vice president and chief marketing officer.

A 2005 model could be one option for buyers looking at Subaru Outbacks in New Jersey, due to its expanded size over earlier models, increased ground clearance of nearly 9 inches and greater structural integrity, according to Cars.com.

“Outback sedans and wagons are easy to drive and have extra advantages over the [Subaru] Legacy for driving on less-than-perfect roads,” wrote Jim Flammang in a Cars.com review. “These cars make a satisfying alternative to a sport utility vehicle.”

He added that the acceleration is quick in the Outback which offers combined fuel mileage of around 22 miles per gallon according to EPA estimates.

DC Shoe Company owner puts Subaru WRX through its paces

For those looking at used Subarus as an option for spirited driving, DC Shoes owner and rally driver Ken Block is happy to show off what he’s done with a specially modified WRX STi.

He has been focusing on Gymkhana events, which are somewhat like autocross races but include reverses, spins and drifting, building on the experience he has in winning five Rally America Series races, according to autoblog.com

“Watching Ken run his car through its paces (always on a closed course!) usually elicits some extreme reactions,” says James Han, Subaru America motorsports marketing manager.

While those looking for used Subarus in New Jersey may not be as interested in seeing if their purchase can make a 171-foot jump like Block did, a used Subaru WRX, or the less expensive Impreza may be one option.

In 2004, the model got upgraded suspension struts for better handling, and a new style that made away with the former circular headlights, changes that Edmunds.com editors say make for ” a practical, fun-to-drive alternative to the typically dull cars” in its class.

Used Subaru Forester may be a good family addition

Looking for a used car in New York that will fit a family and a thrifty wallet? Parents and Edmunds.com teamed up to find the best cars that fit both, and a used Subaru Forester may be the ticket for economically-minded families.

Both sides test-drove the vehicles they were examining for a six-month period to gauge features while ensuring that they received reviews from parents who used the cars on a daily basis.

They found that the Forester offered family-friendly safety features which helped push it past other competitors.

“We are doubly pleased that the Subaru Forester’s safety features and family-friendly design have won over not only the experts, but also the parents who rely on our vehicles to keep their families safe,” says Tom Doll, chief operating officer of Subaru of America.

Those looking to buy a used car in New York that has received plaudits like that and is comparable in cost to a new entry-level car, the 2004 model was lauded by Edmunds.com editors for being “fun to drive” while receiving “class-leading crash test scores.”
